CFPNI TEENS HELP CREATE PEACE MURAL

The Peace Mural depicts the darkness of the past yeilding to the hope in the future. Award winning artist, Xavier Cordata flew to Ireland to create the mural with the teens who have participated in CFPNI. Cordata used the teens' ideas to design the mural. Written on the mural are the teen's thoughts of peace, understanding and lessons learned.

Mr. Cordata and the teens presented the mural to the Northern Ireland Ministry of Art, Culture and Leisure at the CFPNI reunion October 21, 2000. The ministry displayed the mural at schools and events across Northern Ireland to promote diversity and understanding. The mural later went on display at Diversity 21, a Northern Ireland Expo.

The mural project collaboration was sponsored by the US Department of State as a follow-up project to the White House Millenium Council's International Volunteer Award.
